From before the Dawn of Man, good and evil have battled on the Earth. As humans progressed from Eden to the skies and to space, Azrael watched over humanity — teaching, guiding, and protecting the Children of Earth.
The Enemy, imprisoned on Earth for their rebellion, carry out the Master’s plan to end their bondage and take the war to a new front — a pristine ‘cradle’ world where suffering and war are not known. Using the Emperor of Earth and the resources of his vast empire to build mankind’s first starship, the Enemy weaves a plot that spans generations, and threatens two sentient races.
In Book One, Azrael enlists Father Bożydar Jofre, a Jesuit priest, and Kavan Ferre, a brilliant physicist, to prevent the Enemy from escaping to the stars. Joined by an unlikely group of space pirates, Azrael leads an epic race across the solar system to halt the Enemy before their great migration can begin.
THE WATCHERS OF UR CRADLE will take you from Earth to Mars, Europa, Titan, and beyond on an epic journey filled with fast-paced action, gripping human drama, and stunning glimpses of the future of Mankind.
---------------------------
From political intrigue to divine intervention; from a monastery on Mars to a city locked under the ice on Europa; from the Emperor of Earth to a space-pirate that fights for freedom; from religious axioms that have stood the test of time to cutting-edge theories that test the very fabric of reality, this is science fiction on a truly titanic scale. Fowler blends epic military sci-fi with inspired Christian philosophy, and sets his bold story over the colossal backdrop of the Angelic Wars. What would it mean if angels and demons influenced humanity’s rise to the stars and beyond? The Watchers Of Ur Cradle explores some captivating possibilities.

THE WATCHERS OF UR: CRADLE, LaMonte M. Fowler, 2014When I heard about this book, I thought it was science-fiction about pre-history. I mean, Ur? That’s where Abraham began.
This book is sci-fi, fantasy, good-vs-evil. The action takes place in space in the 26th Century. As I was reading, I remembered some of Frank Herbert’s early stories (before Dune); and some stories of which I no longer remember the title or author. Mr. Fowler writes in a similar vein.
Where will humanity be in the 26th Century? Read the book and find out. I give it 4 stars.

The Watchers of Ur Cradle eBook LaMonte M Fowler Reviews
Lamonte is a fine writer. I think he is a very thoughtful person, meaning he contemplates throughout his day trying to get an understanding of this human life.
This is EXACTLY the type of story I wish there was more of that comibnes sci-fi with religious beliefs. It's pretty cool to think of angels and demons continuing their eternal war amidst the future of mankind as it ventures out to other planets.
I too felt the ending was a little rushed, perhaps setting up the sequel to the story but the characters were great and the story itself was neither hard sci-fi nor preachy, just right. Can't wait to read the sequel as the cliffhanger ending kept me wanting more!
That's the best way to describe The Watchers of Ur Cradle!
The author has created an amazing world where angels, demons, pirates, and space travel merge into a fast past, action packed thriller!
Fowler's take on classic Biblical themes was very imaginative and I really enjoyed the two distinct writing styles he displayed throughout the novel. During the scenes dealing with angels and religion the narrative is flowing and eloquent, showing respect to the subject matter, while the scenes dealing with pirates and outer space are written in the harsh, clipped style of a good military/scifi novel.
The ending was great and sets you up nicely for the next book in the series which I hope will be coming soon!
With a most unusual mix of characters, this sci-fi/fantasy novel thrusts you into intergalactic space while you're busy wondering what will happen next. The author keeps you guessing as an unlikely group of heroes emerge from this swashbuckling tale in space. An action packed universe populated with an assortment of worlds, futuristic gizmos, fantasy space travel, and technical sci-fi jargon.I thoroughly enjoyed the spiritual aspect as I ascribe to a similar philosophy. However, I did find some of the action scenes hard to follow with so many different characters sprinkled throughout. At the same time, the book gave you room to think and explore various ideas while entertaining thoughts about the future and our role on this earth.
When I started this book I was a bit leery given the framework and the obvious references to religion. Nevertheless, I sat down to read it and despite my initial misgivings it really was a fun read so I'm giving it a 4 for the entertainment I derived from it. I really enjoyed some of the characters and appreciated the spice thrown in by some of the more obscure ones in this merry band of mortals off to save the universe. In addition, I'm always up for some good action and a rollicking space battle and there was plenty of both. The author did add some twists to the age old struggle between good and evil, which were interesting to think about in the context of the story. Overall, I enjoyed it and I'll probably read the next one. If you like an occasional swashbuckling type romp and have the ability to treat fiction as just that and not take it too seriously then you might pass an enjoyable afternoon with this space adventure.
This book has a really cool and unique premise, that demons are trapped on earth because of God's judgement and they are trying to get to another world to corrupt it. There are some very interesting characters with a mix of pirates, spies, scientists, military, priests, etc.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that if God pronounced judgement on the demons that they could get around it by taking over human technology. But this is a work of fiction after all, so not a big deal. My only real "complaint", and a minor one at that, is that at times the story was really choppy because of how much explanation was interspersed between the lines of dialogue. At times it felt like the author put too much explanation in there that it took away from the flow and of the story telling itself. But all in all it was a very enjoyable read.
I wondered if I would be drawn in to a story involving religion and science fiction. I love a good biblical conspiracy spanning generations, both before and after the recorded birth of Christ. It always draws me in like a challenge, writer vs reader.
Is it believable? Is it written in a way to make the probable correlations authentic? Does it have the research and logical pieces in place to interest an atheist?
Yes, it's believable, the faith and belief that people have for their religion is very well written and expressed in this book.
It's also got a hidden ability, this book, it brings enough parallels together that you do feel like science and religion follow the same path.
Yes, again. Enough logic and science were present to spark my interest.
I am in love with the ideology behind this book, and those to come. My own journey into my spiritual beliefs began only recently, and though I'm not an unbeliever, I'm kind of late getting to the party. I don't know if I will get there 100% but I am looking into it.
Thank you for an exceptional read, and you now have a very impatient fan. Good luck.
